Fixed or expandable silverware tray: how to choose
A fixed tray keeps the same footprint; an expandable one changes a dimension within a documented range. Both require clear height, depth and space around fittings to be checked.
For a fixed tray, decide whether the remaining space will be useful. For an expandable tray, check minimum, maximum and how the moving section is supported or held. Do not assume all intermediate positions behave identically.
Arrange your everyday flatware, serving pieces and small accessories on a paper plan of the drawer. Compare usable compartments rather than their number. Check the exact model, finish and cleaning instructions before buying: a similar design in another material may have different dimensions and care requirements.
